Troubleshooting for common problems and questions: *** Macintosh / PC / Windows Problems *** Q: When I put the CD into my computer, nothing happens, what am I supposed to do? A: Auto-run for CD's is not enabled on your computer. Double click My Computer, then double click The Pegasus Disc icon. Q: After I complete UCF-Setup, the window tells me to double click on Dial-Up Networking, but it's not there. A: Dial-Up Networking needs to be installed on your computer. Click on Start, Settings, then Control Panel. Open "Add/Remove Programs". Click on the "Windows Setup" tab. In the list of items double click on Communications. Check "Dial-Up Networking". Click "OK". At this point Windows will attempt to install Dial-Up Networking. You may need your Windows CD at this point. After it is finished, close all windows and try UCF-Setup again. Q: I need to dial a special number to get to an outside line. How do I tell my computer/modem to dial an outside line to connect to the internet? A: After you run the UCF-Setup program, do the following: Open My Computer, then open Dial-Up Networking. Right click on the UCF connection icon, then select properties. You will see a line that contains the phone number for the pegasus terminal server. Add the appropriate dialing prefix before the number then press OK. Q: I have Windows NT 4.0. Is there help available to set up my internet connection to UCF? A: There is no program that will automatically install the connection for you, but there is a help section on the CD-ROM on how to manually set up the connection. Open up an internet browser then select open location from the File menu. Enter x:\tutorials\lol\internet\remote\remote04.html (where x:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM drive). Q: The CD wants me to install Netscape and I already have it. Am I going to lose my bookmarks and settings? A: No, Netscape is smart enough to look for older versions and transfer all of your bookmarks and internet settings so you might use them in the newer version. Q: When I try to install QuickTime my computer tells me that there is not enough space on my temp drive. A: Open up Windows Explorer and find the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder and delete all files in that folder. Run the installation program again. Q: When I try to install Shockwave, I get an error "The DLL urlmon.dll could not be found in the path specified." A: This sometimes happens with Windows NT 4.0. You can safely ignore the error, everything will still work. Q: When I try to launch the self test or another quiz, I get the message that I need to update my Director plug-in. A: Launch CD-ROM, select the "install" button, and follow instructions (you may wish to refer to the Walk Me Through It Guide). ******************************************************************** ********************************************************************
